Rural Flavours

Exploring
Southern Peninsula
- with Emily Davenport
The Cups Estate has recently received a swag of accolades for
their premium quality wines and vineyard, including a 5 Star rating
from acclaimed wine writer James Halliday. They have not rested
on these laurels though. They have decided to undertake a major
grafting exercise to increase production of white varieties such
as Pinot Gris and Chardonnay; as well as enhance the variety of
clones available in their Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Sparkling. This has
been a laborious exercise but one that will further the quality and
range of the wines. The vines are expected to be in full production
by next season.
Another addition to The Cups Estate will be the introduction of
lunch during summer periods and they will be serving simple and
varying light meals with the authentic rural flavours of their Italian
ancestry. ‘It has always been our plan to offer light meals that
compliment the wines without taking away from the wine tasting
experience.” Joe Fisicaro - owner of The Cups Estate.
To compliment the introduction of food at the vineyard The Cups
Estate will also be providing free live entertainment on Sundays
during summer. A varying and talented array of artists have been
booked to compliment the wine and food experience at The Cups.
