Now managed by Rod Johnston of French Island Eco Tours, Tortoise Head Lodge can cater for individuals, couples (etc) or groups up to 30 or so, and is located a short 200m walk from the Island’s Tankerton Jetty. There are 3 living/function rooms, two with fires. Accommodation is in en-suited family cabins, or shared facility rooms. Meals can be self catered or on busier nights, a delicious meal will be prepared of healthy local meats and produce, and cooked and by local professional chefs.
Themed music nights, Christmas in July parties and a return of the Lodge’s famous murder mystery parties are also planned.
This year Rod will operate his award winning French Island “Discovery” Eco Tour on Sunday afternoons, and on Wednesdays or Thursdays, depending on numbers. This includes an organic, buffet lunch visit to the Island’s McLeod Eco Farm and historic reform prison. If you have been on one of these tours, Rod now operates a Saturday afternoon, eco tour which includes a beach walk, a visit to a queen bee farm, a 30minute lookout walk, and afternoon tea at the Tortoise Head lodge as well as other activities, depending on the interests of the participants.
