Town life for locals is largely centred on the landmark Flinders Hotel the first Flinders pier was built in 1864 and in 1869 Flinders became the site for a submarine cable to Tasmania. A flourishing golf club was established from the early 1900’s, which today is one of the most scenically sited courses in Australia.
